GetDropBox.com Eliminates the USB Key Transfer Lameness

Thanks to Rhett Smith, I got clued into GetDropBox.com last night.  Initial thoughts?  I can now save myself shameful embarassment daily by not having to ask to borrow USB keys to transfer files between the 3 computers that I use.

Although, I must admit, that I’m not quite yet willing to throw down $10 bucks a months to get the 50 gig online drive, so I’ll have to keep borrowing (or simply remembering to bring my own).

But, it’s a great start on a service that could really save me some valuable time.  Check out the “dry run” of GetDropBox sporting the Dell XPS M1210 and the new Dell Mini 9.

Pretty impressive, and obviously mega easy to get started.  Thanks again Rhett for the tweet!

You just mentioned this in passing and I was all over it I can always use more online storage. Already came in handy this morning for a quick turnaround of a client markup. I knew a change was coming so I put it in dropbox to take with me on the road.

nice…talk about quick turnaround…I tweet it last night and you have the slick presentation already up? do you sleep?

Man, that would be great for our small company. One of our employees works off site and it can be a pain getting her files. I have tried multiple services and methods. This sounds very easy and quite functional. It will be worth checking out for sure. Not convinced about the $10/month, but if it proves useful in increasing productivity the cost might be worth it. We will see.

    Thanks human3rror & Rhett.

yeah, no doubt. the free-service is epic. no need right now to do more than that… let me know if you do go premium.

I love Dropbox, but love Mesh.com more, more storage, remote access to the machines not just folders. Mesh has more control over access and syncing. I can sync between two machines bypassing the cloud and the storage limit, only putting things in the cloud I want from machines that are not my own. Later you will be able to run apps on the Mesh desktop that access the files or remote machines. I sync my favorites on all machines and sync the pictures folder from my mobile phone to all machines or family folders that I share with them. Lot's of cool options out there.

dropbox is awesome. i learned about it a month ago when @samsoffes tweeted about it. he is premium and hosts his itunes music so he can access his library from any of his computers. pretty sweet.

i would have been more impressed had you used a mac to pc dry run. that is where it shines true

I use it every day, many times a day, for close to a month now. Instantly updated, and cross platforms. Plus sharing important docs with my wife and a few others. Amazing tool.
