Today’s Friday 5 is with Phillip Gibb.
I’ve been getting to know Phillip through my two blogs and it’s been a pleasure connecting with him. What’s neat is that we’ve been connecting almost entirely through the art of the “blog comment.”
I’d say that’s pretty cool.
Thanks Phillip for helping to build out ChurchCrunch with your valuable feedback and comment love!

Whatcha Working On?
Currently color correcting, well crushing the background, of a short video sketch we have done to promote the whole name change that we are going to do at our Church – exciting times. These sort of projects tend to be fiddled with until the day they need to be viewed; so I am also actively involved in the SPD team - Strategic Planning Devision – to streamline all video processes.
At the same time myself and Ron (http://justplainron.wordpress.com/) are working on putting our Church onto the Social Networking grid thru facebook, twitter(stellchurch) and wordpress (http://stellenbergcc.wordpress.com). These name will have to be changed when our Church’s name changes, my goodness there is a lot change happening of late – but thats what we are all about especially life change
How do you see Web Technology impacting The Kingdom?
By implication Web Technology provides the mechanisms to publish content to the world wide web. The www is the place where so many people visit, people of all races, cultures and age groups. With the Church being involved and leveraging these technologies more people will be reached. And I am all for being involved in that process
I am not an evangelist but I am not afraid of posting that I follow Jesus Christ.

Hey Phil. I suppose that film is like software development. The product is never quite finished, it just has to get taken away from the film maker at some point.
Whaaaaaaaa,

Thanks John
One thing I gotta throw out there is that I do have a day job as a Java Programmer

Hey Phillip, tell me more about what you're doing with Facebook and your church? A page? Ap? Facebook Connect?
Facebook announced some big changes this week that are going to be a great help for churches:

Hey Paul,

At the moment we only have a Facebook group. We use that together with Events for our monthly KIDstuf, and a few of us make an effort to keep the reminders going.
But we are going thru a renaming process and some marketing planning to re-launch the church, I will certainly be bringing up Facebook's latest changes at our first meeting next week.
Phillip, how are groups and events working for you? I created a group for my church and I consider it pretty much worthless. A bunch of people joined initially, but nobody comes back to the group to interact. Probably because groups can't put anything a member's newsfeed and people just don't think about it.
Events seem to work pretty well, though. Cause when someone RSVPs, all their friends see it. So, it's a pretty cool and not in-your-face way of letting friends know what's going on at your church.

hmmm, there is not a lot of interaction on the group to be honest. Yeah, events seem to be a cool way to let people know, especially when people post the event on their profile.
yip, one has to let go at some point
, especially when it come to editing
i just step away from the editing bay, turn off the light and give the keys to the wife.
