Flipboard, Bringing Print, Social Media, and Mobile Devices Together

By now you might have already seen and/or tried Flipboard, which is an attempt to bring the elements of print media to social media and your mobile device.

You don’t have to scroll through long lists of posts or links and you don’t have to “jump” back and forth between sites. Think of it as your digital magazine that you get to personalize:

Here is another take:

Flipboard is an application for content consumption, not creation. This is not your new full-functioned iPad Twitter client; it’s a way to read the articles your friends think are most interesting in a format that emphasizes photos, typography, and the appeal of well-placed white space.

It seriously looks pretty and I’ve loved the experience so far. Might this just be the clutch between the two at-war world of print and digital media?

Or maybe not.

If anything, making content easy (and pretty) to read is becoming much more important for adoption and use in the market place. In other words, you have to make it look awesome besides just functioning well.

This space is becoming pretty big. Pulse made a lot of waves when it was featured in an Apple keynote and then pulled from the store (it’s back on now). Times app recently came out too. All take RSS feeds and present them in a user friendly format. More like a digital magazine or newspaper. I have to say I like them a lot!
