I recently made the jump from Nikon gear to Canon gear largely because I was going to start doing more video and at this time, Canon has the edge in that area.
The Canon 5D Mark II has become the premier choice when working with DSLR video. It’s a full frame (the sensor captures the entire frame whereas a “crop” sensor cuts off some of the image) camera that produces amazing footage. At a price of $2500, you get the quite the bang for a buck.
Last year, the season finale of the television show ‘House’, was shot almost entirely with the 5D MK II.
This year, The Foo Fighters collected a VMA award for the video of their song, ‘Walk’ from their latest album, ‘Wasting Light.’ The video, directed by photographer Sam Jones, was shot entirely with the 5D Mark II. It looks awesome. In addition, it’s a great song. As for the theme of the video. You won’t actually “get it” unless you have seen the Michael Douglas movie, ‘Falling Down’ which it spoofs.
