Dripps – Simple, Easy, and Intuitive File/Image Sharing

Sharing screenshots and files quickly is a must-have for those who work and collaborate online. Need to share a file larger than an email can handle? No problem. Use your cloud based sharing app! It can also be a handy way to share photos and files via Twitter or other social networking services. Work or play, file sharing via a cloud service becomes more popular everyday. They are usually quick and easy to use; and most services that are available offer some sort of management system, so you can remove files when you like.

But do you really want to pay for another service?

I use Dropbox, so why would I want to pay for another monthly service to share screenshots and easily send files?

Let’s take CloudApp for example. Here are their rates:

  • Free – 10 shares per day, 25MB file limit.
  • $15 – 3 months of service, unlimited shares, 250MB file limit, personal domain.
  • $25 – 6 months of service, unlimited shares, 250MB file limit, personal domain.
  • $45 – 12 months of service, unlimited shares, 250MB file limit, personal domain.

The last thing I want is another $5 per month, when I already have unused space in my Dropbox!

Here’s the solution:

Dripps

Introducing, Dripps.

Dripps was built by John Saddington (you may have heard of him). It’s been said, if you can’t find the right tool, create it. That’s exactly what he did.

Dripps works just like other image and file sharing apps, except Dripps uses your existing Dropbox account! (Free Dropbox accounts starting at 2GB.)

Price

$5.00

Considering the cost of CloudApp, $5 is a great deal! Five bucks would only get you one month of service with CloudApp. Unless, of course, you’re using their free service. But then you’re limited to file size or the number of shares. Dripps dosen’t have that limitation.

If you need a file and image sharing app, Dripps is what you’re looking for.

I take a lot of screenshots through the day for proofing; I used CloudApp for a while, but regularly exceeded their free daily limit. Since then, I’ve been using a custom script to manually move screenshots to Dropbox and copy the download link. Dripps would save me a lot of time by automatically uploading my proofs.

I’d like to win the free account so that I can move more files to the cloud. I’m thinking of moving from a laptop to an ipad, which would mean I need storage in the cloud. Sounds like Dripps would fit the bill…

I share files back and forth with my graphic designer all the time for ad work at our business, as well as promo materials for church events, etc. Between those 2 things, we share lots of files, typically reducing the quality and emailing back and forth. This seems like a much more intuitive method of file sharing/collaborating and I would appreciate the opportunity to give it a try … thanks!

I am a MobileMe => iCloud victim and this looks like one of the best iDisk replacement options. Don’t just do it for me…well, yes, do it for me on behalf of MobileMe victims everywhere! :)

I live in Turkey and regularly share files with my team for the work we do. This would help a lot. Thanks.

I am the creative director for our church and I share a lot of designs with our pastors, staff and volunteers and this would be a great way to streamline that process.
