Are you a laptop or desktop. I love the use of a laptop but the power to price point and “only this room is for work” boundary that a desktop forces is very enticing. Too many times I work when I shouldn’t and I reap the consequences of those actions.

I remember seeing this when you first posted it and wanting to reply but not getting round to it. For me the portability of a laptop wins. Living in a foreign country for 9 months of the year and then moving back home for 3 means I need to shift my computer with me. Plus being able to take a computer to and from work really helps.
I agree about the “this room is for work” boundary which is why I try and had a work desk for nothing but work (I’m not good at keeping that boundary) and it’s also why I sometimes love to go to a coffee shop and just pound out the words in one go. I know that i’m going to work and so I just plow through it.

I do not doubt the need for portability at all, I just know that the “local portability” with bad boundaries is a bad thing for a wife and son.

You know one of the things I notice everytime I go home and see my family is how we can sometimes be in the same room and all be on computers/laptops/tablets “spending time together”. A “great” example there. Good things to think about
