What defines an iconic image?
It is an image that is almost instantly recognizable even by those with only a passive interest in photography.
In fact, I can list some iconic images without even showing you the photograph and you’ll probably know exactly what photo I’m referring, too.
- The picture of Muhammed Ali standing over Sonny Liston.
- The image of the sailor kissing a nurse in NYC after WWII.
- The sad photo of a starving Sudanese child with a vulture lurking in the background.
Photographer Tim Mantoani has launched a project where he is shooting photographers posing with their iconic images.
This is a really cool project.
