If you have enjoy the old school 1990’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie trilogy, you probably know Raphael’s favorite quote after kicking some serious butt,
“Man, I love being a turtle!”
Have you ever had those moments where you just kicked your project in the butt or maybe nailed that presentation? You probably need to go put a ninja headband on your head, grab some nunchucks, and just scream, “Man I love my job!”
In the world of corporate digital marketing, this can be a difficult task to do. Everyone knows how to use Facebook because of their own personal accounts. Simply creating content, posting it, and showing of the analytics is not going to wow anyone.
Want to get to that ninja turtle moment?
We have a few ideas to help you:
- Create a full-blown strategy
Simply posting some stuff is not enough. Why are you sharing that specific content, how is it going to feed into more posts, why would your viewers want to reshare it, and how can you tangibly state that the process was a success (think return on investments). - Go above and beyond
My specific job title is is specifically “Social Media Specialist” and I could very easily draw a line in the sand and simply leave it at that. Yet, I found myself digging into different marketing techniques, scouting out how other ministries do great marketing on social media, looking up the statistics for social media marketing, and even diving head first into the Google Grants for Google Ads. (More on that later) - Don’t just share some data
Do not just put together a dull PowerPoint explaining what you have done. Create a story, build a tribe, and present a unique way of displaying the content. In the last two months, my two presentations were a huge success because I went the alternate route, having a “social media lab” in one and creating an infographic that they can post on their personal missionary account in another. - Keep dreaming
I probably pitch one to three new ideas every time I sit down and meet with my supervisors. Most get shot down, but those lucky few are wonderfully accepted and make me a hero! Even ask Eric, I probably show off a new idea once a month.
So get your turtle shell on, go rock today, and enjoy a slice of pizza on me.
