Oral-B is heading to market with an interactive electronic toothbrush that interacts with smart devices via Bluetooth 4.0 and an app available for iOS and Android. The brush should be available in June 2014.
Say what you want… you know you want one!
Look at this thing:

The cornerstone of the system is the app, which allows one to use the smartphone as the control interface. One can program session length, and even coalesce with dental professionals to set goals and monitor technique.
The biggest barrier is probably the price: reportedly $200+. But if the concept of the “connected bathroom” is going to come to fruition, this might be something to consider down the line when (hopefully) prices become more manageable. The Internet of things? I think so.
Would you get a connected toothbrush?

As the mother of a 9 year old boy, I think I might pay the $200 if it means that I can be sure he actually brushed his teeth instead of just holding the toothbrush in his mouth waiting for his sand timer to run out!

When looked at from that angle, I here ya! Might pay for itself with dental bills.
Multiple heads + app with multiple users might help traction.

LOL!
