Do you have a surplus of old computers and computer accessories?
What about your church or ministry organization?
Here is a really cool ministry idea that you may want to consider!
Computers4Christians
As it’s plainly stated on their website, you don’t have to be a Christian to participate, so don’t let their name throw you off.
“Recycling Computers for the Christian Community and for Witnessing.”
This is such a cool idea!
This particular group serves in the Cheyenne/Laramie Wyoming area, but I think modeling their concept would be great in other parts of the country, too.
The concept is simple:
Computers and parts are donated, the great people at Computers4Christians test and repair as needed, and then they install Ubuntu and load the computers with dozens of software packages as well as Christian-related applications such as Bibles, Dictionaries, Commentaries, Devotionals and more.
There are plenty of families that would benefit from this program and would be a great ministry outreach in communities everywhere.
Are you ready to start your own computer recycling ministry?

Since my state (Illinois) has banned throwing away most types of computer equipment, it has gotten harder (and very expensive!) to get rid of even basic computer gear. A group like this nearby would be very helpful (obviously shipping CRTs or servers to Wyoming would be pretty expensive) and a great idea!

Now just need a team of IT guys and you can start this where you’re at!
