Compfight – Simple Flickr Search

Sometimes the best stuff out on the web are the more focused and easiest to use.  It’s simpleCompfight.com is one of those services:  It’s a simple flickr search engine based on their extensive API.

With a few custom filters for easy searching one can find images (Creative Commons) for use on your blog, church website, or ministry banner, or whatever!

Here’s a couple screenshots, but, it’ll probably be faster if you just go there and give it a spin.  Knock yourself out.

Here’s a shot of the search results for “church”…

How do you think this differs from just using their advanced search? It seems to spit out the same number of results, just maybe in a little different order.

I do like the thumbnail view, though. That is much better than having to scroll through three or four times as many pages.

it's relatively the same (unless I'm missing something)… but perhaps it makes people happy… it's all about perception, right?

i think the web is heading to a more visual place… perhaps because we're all so A.D.D… but, maybe that's me.

I think you are right about the A.D.D.

One instance I did consider after writing my comment was my design partner. I bet she would really benefit from seeing a lot more images on one page so she can quickly discern which ones she wants. I passed it on to her so we will see how she likes it… she is slow to change. :)

i thnk the web's headed toward a more “visual” approach… one part of my web3.0 manifesto…

When you have your web3.0 manifesto ready, I would love to hear it. I will make sure you are listed on Wikipedia as the creator of web 3.0. ;)

Well, after showing quite a bit of doubt in my previous comments, I am now on board. I have used their system multiple times since you wrote about it. Very cool and it makes searching much easier. Like you said, more visual works in this case.

    Thanks for the recom.
