Really. Seriously. The ‘community’ that surrounds, participates, engages, comments, and enjoys a blog’s content is the blog’s biggest asset. That’s why I try my very best to give back as much as I possibly can to the community that supports this particular blog and my other one.
Sometimes, the “community” shows up big time.
For a few of you that have been around here a while you know that one of the biggest things that is missing from ChurchCrunch is a brand image, a logo. I’ve tried doing a contest (or two) and I haven’t been able to nail anything down yet, probably because I’m so darn picky. But I feel like I need to be, especially with the logo.
One of the community members contacted me a week or so ago by email and left me this note:
Wow. I was absolutely floored. A quick visit to Logoworks.com showed me that a “Gold” Package had a value of nearly $400 dollars…! I couldn’t believe it. I emailed him back and asked him what prompted him to be so generous and he humbly shared how some of the posts here had been deeply impactful and had been used to encourage others.
I couldn’t be any happier. That’s one of the reasons why I do what I do (or at least try to).
So, I’ve begun the “process” of creating a legitimate logo with Logoworks. One of the first things I noticed was the “by HP” tag line. A quick Google search revealed that HP had indeed acquired them a few years back. I felt pretty confident with that type of backing to move forward.
The following screencaps is the “process” so far. I’ve completed the Creative Brief a few days back and the first comps are going to roll out this Thursday. Since this was a Community-generated project, I’m going to share with you guys the comps and ask for your opinion, since this blog’s value lies directly with you, the community.
I’m pretty excited. Again, without question, Community is a Blog’s Biggest Asset.
Thanks guys, you are the best.

I'm completely stoked about this. Thanks for pulling us into the loop.
very very very very cool
i work for HP (not involved with LogoWorks) so I will be interested to hear how your experience with LogoWorks turns out.
I didn't know that…!
Pretty exciting stuff. I have to say that I'm fairly new to this world of blogs…but I do consider church crunch here to be a community. This is kind of the main blog where I like to "hang". So props to you John for helping to facilitate this community through encouraging dialogue.
