Now that is awesome.
Standard Theme 2.5 For WordPress Launches
Standard Theme has made quite an impact since it was launched less than a year ago. We quickly established our sea-legs as a team, turned around, and released Standard Theme 2 in the summer. This was shortly followed by Live Theme and ChurchAnalytics. Our product line continues to receive an amazing response, and we’re truly grateful for those of you have that have jumped on board, but I hope you didn’t think for a minute that the 8BIT team was slowing down.
For the past couple of months, we’ve been hard at work continuing to improve our flagship product Standard Theme based on some key areas identified by us (we love to use it, too!) but also by many of you in the forums.
Strictly talking numbers, we’ve introduced over 40 fixes, improvements, and new features to Standard Theme. We’re pumped to be releasing this today.

WordPress Updates .htaccess Code
Jeff Starr over at Digwp figured out that there’s been a slight change in the .htaccess files in WordPress, and it’s one simple line:
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
It’s quite simple to add this to your existing .htaccess file, and you probably should since it’s an optimization tweak for mod_rewrite’s internal idiosyncrasy.
Bones: WordPress Theme Development Kit
Bones has been released to help WordPress developers and designers do better theme development by providing a theme “starter kit” of sorts, including some popular features typically created by plugins like “related posts”, “Page navigation,” and “post thumbnails.”
I haven’t personally tried it out yet but it’s on my to-do list!
WordPress Loves Mobile
As you can see above WordPress has added a new drop-down to their “Extend” page so that you can get directly to their mobile offerings.
You’ll be able to get to all of their neat mobile apps and more quickly. I’m still waiting for the perfect blogging mobile app to come – perhaps this year?
