Do you ever get those links of websites that show current pictures of celebrities and compare them to their high school photos? I do. I’ll be honest, I always click on them. I don’t really know why, since I don’t really get into celebrity gossip so I guess it’s just sheer curiosity.
Celebrity director Jon M. Chu is best known for his films Step Up 2: The Streets, Step Up 3D and Justin Bieber: Never Say Never. He is also currently working on G.I. Joe Retaliation. Now, I am not going to pretend that these are Oscar caliber films, but I would venture to guess that most of us have seen at least some of his work.
But I bet you haven’t seen the incredibly moving and thought-provoking short film he made as a film student.
It has less than 400,000 views even though been available online since 2006. Although that’s 10,000,000 views less than an unofficial lyric video of Rebecca Black’s Friday, don’t let the numbers determine the quality.

I’ve seen this video a dozen times and I appreciate it for so many reasons. It’s raw, simple and sends a message without any dialogue. With so many tips and tricks at our disposal, I hope to create art like this – stripped and poignant.
Oh, and if you’re also curious how Brad Pitt looked in high school, I’ve got you covered.
