BooneOakley.com – A Deeper YouTube Integration Experience

If you haven’t seen this BooneOakley.com YouTube video, go ahead and check it out by clicking on the image or watching it directly here (at the end of the post). Please make note that it doesn’t “scale” perfectly due to my 620pixels wide content area.

booneoakley_hdThey’ve done a fantastic job of making their video “integrated” with the rest of the YouTube surrounding content, scrub bar, and alternative links.

I really love how they visually show you where on the timeline one can find specific pieces of the video content. Of course, it’s not perfect because once you boot it up into HD version the graphics don’t align perfectly anymore.

All good, and not necessarily a large detractor for me (or anyone else really).

I think that this “type” of creatively is sorely lacking at a large scale in how we use web technology. Instead of creating something altogether “new” and (so-called) innovative, let’s maximize the current platforms and technology that already exists, being creative with an existing palette, sotospeak.

Let’s rock the existing platforms and tech instead of (wasting) a lot of time reinventing the wheel.

Here’s the vid after the jump:

i saw this video and continue to love seeing the creativity that we can use to teach and engage. Anyone can learn from this. I showed it to my 14 yr old son.

creativity points to them, but I've seen a couple of these, and they feel clumsy…hard to actually get anything out of.

But! the big plus, is that their business is currently embedded on your site, in complete form…That..is genius.
