The trend of Bible engagement–aka: reading the Bible, living the Bible, understanding the Bible–has taken a serious nosedive.
This was really alarming to me, especially if you take the word Bible and replace it with God’s Word. After all, that’s what it is, and if we don’t know what God has to say, then there’s hardly any chance we can live in a Godly manner.
With that in mind, this infographic by Kenny Jahng of Liquid Church tells us that:
- 700 people stop reading God’s Word every day
- 25% less people in one generation are occasional readers
- And 40% of those reading God’s Word feel confused, overwhelmed, doubtful, bored and discouraged.

As alarming as this may sound, don’t lose hope!
This is not only a great opportunity for churches to step-up and address this issue on a community by community, one on one level, but highlights how technology can be a great tool to further the Kingdom of God.
