Automatic Year Update in WordPress [Code]

One of the most important things that you can do that is super easy is make sure that your footer copyright information is updated to the current year.

You can do it manually or if you’re using WordPress you can replace the manual entry with this easy piece of php:

<?php echo date(“Y”); ?>

Voila! Make sure you’re up to date in 2010 (and beyond)! Hope everyone is having a great 2010 start!

    Yeah no question about that. I notice all the time when footers haven't been updated in years. Good call.

    Isn't a copyright protected for 50+ years or something? So even if mine said it was copyrighted in 1980, I would still have another 20+ years left. It's not a big deal, but I'm just sayin =) I guess it does make you look legit and updated.

    Worked great. Thanks! For me, I had to remove the quote around the Year in order for it to display correctly. But I'm assuming that it's because I'm using an older theme?
