Always a leadership decision to make. Always an event underway. Never a dull moment.
You’ve probably been caught in the cyclone.
What am I doing with my team? Where are we going? Who are we? Why does no one seem to have any passion for what we’re doing?
You lack a very important word that is essential to any effective organization or ministry.
When I read the Bible, I don’t see worship leader anywhere.
I wish I did.
Believe me, I’ve looked hard.
I even tried submitting a verse for the next ESV Study Bible update:
“And King David continued the rest of his earthly ministry as a worship leader, making bank, and writing songs on his harp for the people of Israel to declare in battle.”
Nobody wanted to use that.
I wish it was mentioned in the Bible because it’s sort of what I do. In one way or another, my life revolves around being a worship leader.
You probably didn’t wake up thinking, “How can I be the biggest failure possible today?”
We never set out to fail.
But when left unchecked, it’s easy for us to develop bad habits that take us where we don’t want to go.
As a worship leader myself, I’ve found that failure has a lot more to do with how we handle the small stuff behind the scenes, than it does with what happens on stage.
So here are 10 ways to ensure you fail as a worship leader. Reader, beware:
