Nintendo President Satoru Iwata says that smartphones are destroying the handheld video gaming industry.
With a smartphone game price tag ranging from zero to $5 and a Nintendo handheld game price of $30 to $35, there is a huge price discrepancy. Of course, there are a number of things to keep in mind. Development, distribution and the overall number of smartphone users compared to Nintendo handheld owners.
Iwata believes the low price tag lends toward lower quality. Development comes at a price, after all. These are some of Iwata’s arguments. They are valid points, but as the generation that made Nintendo what it is today, we don’t have the time to play as much as we would like. So, if we can carve a few minutes of gaming on our smartphone waiting in line or waiting at the doctor’s office, a $1 smartphone game is all we need to curb our gaming appetite.
Besides, try telling someone that Angry Birds is low quality.

i get much more enjoyment out of most of the $40 games i purchase that said as a married adult i find it hard to get the time to play highly involved games anymore which is why the $1-5 android games are great little discractions. Although the iPhone games are a much higher caliaber.
