iMac: The Power of a Name

retro vintage iMac apple

Did you know that Steve Jobs didn’t name the iMac?

In fact, he had decided on an almost entirely different name.

Can you imagine having Apple — Steve Jobs — as your client?

Steve Jobs came into the room and already had a name for his creation and would only consider something different if he could be dazzled.

Mad Men, much?

Jobs wanted to name the iconic iMac:

MacMan

Yes. MacMan. Rhymes with Pac-Man. Can you believe it!?!

You can read more about this amazing story on Co.DESIGN, but let me ask you:

Had the iMac been named, “MacMan,” would it have seen the same success?
