Rumors are abounding on the interwebs that Apple is indeed prepping an ultra thin MacBook Pro. Whether this is true or not, even the idea makes me super excited. The trend in technology is to go mobile, and be able to conveniently carry your chosen device with you wherever you go. Can you imagine having the power of a MacBook pro with the size and form of an Air? That would be perfect for the tasks I use my laptop for.
Here’s another interesting thought. Since Apple killed the base model MacBook with its release of Lion, will we see the MacBook Pro and Air lines merge eventually into a single, new line of laptops? With the size of hardware getting smaller and smaller, I don’t see why this isn’t possible. If anyone can build and ultra thin, yet still equally as powerful laptop, Apple can do it.
Do you agree? Is this the direction the laptop market is headed in?

In my mind it should have:
i7 2600k
4gb default (although it should have 8gb)
128gb SSD (256 would probably be too expensive)

Agreed, thought I’d be interested to see what a 256GB SSD would cost, it might be worth it to me.

I wouldn’t doubt it. With all you can do with thunderbolt, I could replace all the jacks on my mbp. I have a 13″ and a lighter 15″ would be nice for travel and screen real estate.
