Adobe just released Creative Suite 5.5, as well as the new Adobe Touch SDK.
Imagine a creative environment in which the fun of touch, the potential of mobility, and the power of Adobe Photoshop software meet. The Photoshop Touch SDK allows applications on Android™, Blackberry, and iOS mobile and tablet devices, as well as Mac OS and Windows® operating systems, to interact with Photoshop CS5.
This is really cool.
This will enable smartphones and tablet devices to be used as extended control surface or accompanying application that can add new dimensions to the Adobe creative flow, much like plug-ins and add-ons do, but in a kinetic form.
In fact, three apps will become available via iTunes this coming May ($1.99 to $4.99):
- Adobe Color Lava for Photoshop
This is a hot app. This will enable the ability to mix colors with your fingers, creating swatches that can then be easily transferred into Photoshop. - Adobe Eazel for Photoshop
It’s finger painting for the iPad. You then can easily transfer it back over to Photoshop via WiFi. - Adobe Nav for Photoshop
This is essentially an expanded toolbar. Customize and create a unique Photoshop toolbar, as well use an amazing Photoshop file browser.
This is not only a huge potential for developers to get-in-on from a profit angle, but a great new way to expand the Adobe products.
Maybe we’ll start using our smartphones and tablets for more work and less play?
…
Nay.
