Google is fascinating to me.
There are times where I really like their products and then there are times when I really do not. In either case it’s hard to imagine a world without their products and I’m pretty thankful for them.
One of the things that I really love is Google’s Mission:
To organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.
If I were to be so bold, the 8BIT Network has similar goals as well and although we can’t organize everything we can highlight and provide the best use of your online reading time. I especially like how there’s nothing in that statement about them turning a profit, etc.
We want to be like them, providing useful and valuable content as our primary goal. If it’s good then perhaps we’ll grow, but that’s not our day to day mission or goal.
Take a sec to look at this neat little infographic. Anything stand out to you? How are you thankful for Google?

Googlers get 20% of their time to work on ideas & products they love. 50% of Google’s products, come from this 20% time. Great motivation.
First thing that stood out to me was that 45% products are in beta. Not that I’m a fan of leaving things with a beta tag just to call it beta *cough GMAIL *cough, but what that says to me is they acknowledge room for improvement. A good call to ministry to look and re-look at areas for ways to improve.
Google’s other mission is, “Don’t be evil”. I’m assuming that mirror’s one of 8bit’s goals as well.
I was 17 when Google.com was registered as a domain.
I didn’t buy their stock @ their IPO. Hindsight is….
They EXCEEDED their IPO target by more nearly half-a-billion dollars. (If targeted IPO = targeted revenue)
In 2009 they DECREASED their overall workforce and still INCREASED revenue.
Chrome has been out since 2008 and already has over 5% market share.
I use less than half of their products and I’m still a fan.
The figures, although mostly known to me, are still staggering. TOTALLY wish I would’ve bought the stock when I had the chance. I’m just going to focus on the fact that I can’t take that money with me when I die…
Still a fan of Google, for sure.
Here’s what I love about them that has serious implications for those in the ministry. They redefined how you could do business in ways that were previously considered unworkable and by doing so they’ve raised the standards for how business is done. While doing that they also broadened the horizons of the options available to entrepreneurs and leveled the playing field for many to advance their lives.
What if there was a ministry that did something that significant? (And obvious to the world?)
It would change the way people think about Jesus… in a good way.

Google is my hero.
Ah Google indeed is KING! How I wish I can be part of their team. We never know.
