Last week we talked about 5 sites for Images, Resources and Inspiration. Today I want to give 5 sites for tutorials, vectors and textures. This is not a comprehensive list, instead a starting place to find resources to further your creativity.
If you are running short on ideas, if your texture vault needs to be refreshed, or you are looking for that vector that can save you some time, this post is just for you.
I have found each site listed below to provide valuable resources for tutorials, vectors, and textures.
Here are 5:
1. ChurchMediaDesign.tv
Brad Zimmerman has made resourcing the Church his mission. Starting in January of 2008, Brad has been recording weekly video podcast providing tips, tricks and how-to’s for you the church media designer (that is the first line of every episode). Brad just hit the 100th episode milestone and continues to provide great resources, tutorials, and freebies. Brad covers every sector of church media design and breaks it down into a very easy and understandable language that anyone can understand. Be sure to check out churchmediadesign.tv
2. Greyscalegorilla.com
Nick Campbell, also known as the Grey Scale Gorilla, is a motion designer that has worked with companies such as Target, Blackberry, and even the Conan O’Brien Show (RIP). What I enjoy about Nick’s site is his quick video tuts on motion design and photography. He also reviews and critiques reels of motion designers (even did a review of Barton Damer’s stuff found here). Great site for more inspiration and tuts on how to create some great motion videos and take amazing photographs.
3. Tutsplus.com
This site possess so many tuts you could spend weeks watching them all. From PSD to AE tuts it will be hard not to find something you are looking for. Inside each tut there are resources that are used to make the design you are working on as well as great tips and techniques to get the look you are going for.
4. LostandTaken.com
Caleb Kimbrough runs LostandTaken.com. This website is your one stop shop for any texture that you may be searching for. The best part about it all, %90 of the textures are free. Caleb says on his site: “I’m trying to fill the “good, free texture” void on the internet, one picture at a time.”
5. Abduzeedo.com
Abduzeedo is a collection of visual inspiration and useful tutorials. There are articles about inspiration, tutorials covering the most used design applications, and a whole lot of free stuff.
My personal favorite feature of abduzeedo is Fridays Fresh Free Fonts.
This is by no means a comprehensive list, just 5 places to get started.
Feel free to add to this list in the comment stream.
